Amos 7:14-15 (NASB95) – 14 Then Amos replied to Amaziah, “I am not a prophet, nor am I the son of a prophet; for I am a herdsman and a grower of sycamore figs. 15 “But the Lord took me from following the flock and the Lord said to me, ‘Go prophesy to My people Israel.’
My name is Dan Lowe and I can relate well to Amos here in this text. There is nothing unique about me which qualifies me to speak to God’s people. I spent nearly ten years working in the criminal justice system in Arizona before God called me into full-time ministry. I have since graduated from Phoenix Seminary with a Master of Divinity in Biblical Communication. However, I often feel like Amos must have… I am not a prophet or the son of a prophet… I’m a small town boy and former probation officer, whom God has called to “preach the Word” (II Tim 4:2.) My only qualification rests in the fact that I am a hell-deserving sinner saved by the sovereign grace of God in Christ Jesus, my Lord. By His grace, I presently serve as the pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church, a small, Christ-honoring congregation in Globe, Arizona.
God has blessed me with a wonderful, godly wife who is far more precious than jewels (Prov 31:10) and three beautiful daughters.
